Yesterday I was all excited to start talking about what to do in Yosemite this spring because of the Half Dome lottery opening, but today it looks like winter has decided to make a return appearance to Gardnerville and Minden (and the mountains, of course). While today in the Carson Valley it is beautiful, warm, and mild, tomorrow and the next 14 days look wet. Some reports are calling for up to 5-10 feet in the mountains. Don’t get me wrong, we need the snow and water, but these warm days have been really lovely. But we can certainly use the water and the snow. My family love to ski so we head out to the mountains when it snows.
So, batten down the hatchet because before a good storm come the winds! I love to sleep as the winds roar through the Johnson Lane area. Don’t be scared off, the winds are very similar to the storms I grew up with in Texas, minus the tornados. Thank goodness they always bring good things like water and snow! And NO tornados, of course.
So enjoy and stay warm and dry this storm, unless you have a fun reason to be out in it! I promise to write about Yosemite and all the fun things to do after it warms up! Can’t start planning spring fun while there is still winter fun to be had.
What about you? What do you think of all this weather headed our way? What are your favorite winter activities?
