The sun shines 295 days a year. Peak summer temperatures: 90s, cooling to 50s at night. Winters: temperatures range from the high teens to high 40s. Average annual precipitation, 9.37 inches, average snowfall, 19.4 inches. Warm weather growing season: Generally, mid-June through mid-September.
Elevation
Carson Valley lies at 4,625 feet above sea level. Job's Peak on the west stands at 10,633 feet, and Mount Siegel on the east stands at 9,450.
Population
There are 42,000 or so residents in Douglas County, concentrated primarily in the Valley.
